Ideas for holidays, weekends and trips in Epinal and its surroundings
While in Epinal, be sure to visit l'Imagerie. Founded by Jean-Charles Pellerin at the end of the 18th century, this printing workshop with unique machinery still produces images which it displays within its shop. Based on the same site is the Image Museum, which houses more than 110, 000 images by national and international artists, made from the 17th century to the present day. Why not visit the MDAAC art gallery and discover their amazing collection that ranges from ancient to contemporary pieces, including works by Rembrandt and De la Tour. To discover more about Epinal itself, visit the Chapitre Museum in the historic neighbourhood of the basilica. The 10th century Saint-Maurice Basilica houses the remains of Saint Goëry and is therefore a popular tourist attraction! For the best views of Epinal, head to the ruins of the castle and relax in its 64-acre garden. The modern Notre-Dame-au-Cierge Church, the Saint-Michel Chapel, the Place des Vosges square and the 19th century Chinese Tower are all part of the city's cultural heritage and should not be missed. Take a cruise down the Vosges Canal or relax by Bouzey Lake, which is considered to be a fisherman's paradise. Whatever you enjoy doing, there is plenty to choose when staying at the Campanile Epinal.
